RACE REPORTSWEYMOUTH CLASSIC TRIATHLON ( September 13, 2009)
WELL WHAT CAN WE SAY, GREAT WEATHER, GREAT RACE, GREAT ATMOSPHERE
; BRILLIANT.
These are not the words of our own race officials but those of the competitors taking part in this fantastic event.
From the start we knew this was going
to be a winner, having camped out over night at Bowleaze cove, being woken
up every 15 mins by the guards dogs of the nearby fare we decided, well
Ady decided that 4am was good enough to get going. So having been in bed for at least 2 hours we got up and started on the task of praying for good weather; fortunately for us the weather gods were listening and we had possibly the flattest sea we have had at Bowleaze all season, ask anyone who has done our aquathlon series and they will tell you, I do not like to cancel a swim!
To the sound of "How F*^&%$G long" and Where are the buoys exactly?" the mass swim got off on time 07:00 with only one incident of foot in mouth (ouch!)
Wim Korving 22:49, Tracey Cook 22:56 and Chris Goodfellow 23:02 were the first 3 out of the oggin within 13 seconds of each other and they made rapid progress through transition out on to the bike leg.
Much bumping and grinding later it was Chris Goodfellow 02:08:36 and Tracy Cook 02:16:18 who both brought home the victory in the Male and Female overall winners categories.

See you at the next one.
