MIDDLE DISTANCE TRIATHLON

BUSTINSKIN MIDDLE DISTANCE TRIATHLON  Sunday, September 23rd, 2012 07:00 am - 15:30pm WEYMOUTH AND PORTLAND NATIONAL SAILING ACADEMY  PORTLAND, DORSET  DT5 1SA

OPEN WATER SWIM FOLLOWED BY A VERY UNDULATING SCENIC BIKE RIDE THROUGH THE DORSET HILLS TAKING IN LOTS OF CLIMBING, FINISHED OFF WITH A COASTAL PATH HALF MARATHON

1900m OPEN WATER SWIM -

the only flat bit

94K BIKE - Some say this has a few slight gradients & some tell the truth!

21K RUN - Mainly off road multi terrain with a hill or 2 and breathtaking views

RACE DAY INFORMATION

RACE REGISTRATION & BIKE RACKING WILL TAKE PLACE FROM 05:00 TILL 06:30 - YOU WILL NEED YOUR ID AND BTF CARDS (or you will be charged £5 for day insurance.)

Registration will only take place between these times, if you are late you will NOT be permitted to race and your race number and chip will be available for re allocation

RACE BRIEF 06:45 - RACE START 07:00

THERE WILL BE FEED/DRINKS STATIONS ON BOTH THE BIKE AND RUN COURSE PROVIDING

WATER & ZERO ORANGE SPORTS DRINK, BANANAS & GELS.

1. On the bike it will be at Burton Bradstock in the lay by on the left coming back to Weymouth

On the run there will be

1. Water at the top of Heart Attack Hill - The Chute (Verne Prison)

2. Gels/sports drink/water/bananas @ Portland Bill

3. Water @ top of Killicks Hill

4. Water @ Ferrybridge turn 

 DUE TO SOME INDIVIDUALS WHO TOOK PART IN THE 2010 EVENT, ANYONE FOUND LITTERING ON ROUTE, BIKE BOTTLES OR GEL WRAPPERS OR ANYTHING ELSE YOU WISH TO DISCARD, WILL BE BANNED FROM ALL BUSTINSKIN EVENTS FOR LIFE

NO EXCUSE

For your own safety we set time restrictions to complete the course. If you are going beyond these times limits it will be at the discretion of BUSTINSKIN staff and race officials to remove competitors from the event who they believe are a danger to themselves or others.

SWIM CUT OFF - 08:30 - 1hr30

BIKE CUT OFF - 13:00 - 6hr including swim

RUN CUT OFF - 15:30 - 8hr30 total

COURSE WILL CLOSE AT 15:30 PROMPT

Wetsuits are compulsory for all our open water swim triathlons as it could be quite refreshing on the morning!

By Car
From Dorchester
Take A354 to Weymouth

From Poole and Bournemouth
Take A352, which then becomes A353 to Weymouth

From Bridport
Take B3157 to Weymouth

When you arrive at Weymouth
Take the A354 to Portland. This will bring you to the causeway linking Weymouth and Portland. Halfway along the causeway you will reach a mini-roundabout. Turn left, we are signposted 'Sailing Academy'
