The Details

New for 2019 – The Race to the Bill Short Course Classic & Sprint Triathlon –

This is a well established race around the Isle of Portland, however for 2019 we will be changing the the bike & run routes.

THE SWIM

Swimming 1 loop around the breakwater in Portland Harbour, you will negotiate a 750m or 1500m course around the huge rocks and orange marker buoys exiting the water no more than 50m away from a flat well organised transition area.

THE BIKE 17.5km, 1 lap around Portland, seeing the famous Bill lighthouse and fantastic Chesil Beach stretching for miles along the Jurassic coastline.

THE RUN A totally flat 5km or 10km run around the Osprey Quay area of the marina.

Mass start at 07:00 for the Short Course Classic and 08:00 for the Sprint

You will receive a race T-shirt and custom medal on completion of the event.

The Distance

SWIM

750m/1500m – This is an open water swim along the famous Hamm Beach in a sheltered part of Portland Harbour

BIKE

17.5k – This is a 1 lap route for both races (New Short Course route for the Classic)  around the top of the Isle of Portland, you will be racing from Portland Heights Hotel to the amazing views of Portland Bill lighthouse.

RUN

5k/10k – This is a flat, lapped run taking you around the Osprey Quay area. 2 laps for the 5k – 4 laps for the 10k – count your own laps! 🙂 There will be 2 drink stations on the lap to keep you going along the run.

On completion of this race you will receive an excellent race specific T-shirt that many are desperate for to remind you of your epic day.

Race Day Information

Race registration and transition will open at approx 05:30 and close at 06:30 – you will need to bring your BTF cards as ID, if no card is produced you will be asked to pay the day membership fee of £5 – Once transition has closed there will be a race brief at 06:45 and the Classic race will start as close to 07:00 as possible, The Sprint will start as close to 08:00 as possible.

Wetsuits are compulsory

Timing chips for this race will be given to you at registration.

Free parking on site all day

The cut off time for the classic race is 4 hours – Sprint 3 hours

Family and friends welcome all day at the academy, hot food & drinks are available.
